BPA - a compound that is thought to be harmful to humans - used to package our food, where is the logic in that? And not only is it found in the packaging but recent studies have found that it is leaching into the food preserved within the can. Perhaps your canned peaches aren't so peachy afterall!

  1. If this article has seriously turned you off to all those canned green beans in your cupboard (understandable) there are others out there exercising less precaution in their food choices, and just excited to have food on the table. Maybe consider donating those cans to food banks... there's a bit of a national crisis right now (you know that depression) and all food is appreciated, BPA laced or not unfortunately. Of special note to bay area residents, the SF green fest this weekend will be accepting cans of food in lieu of the $15 entrance fee.

Thanks Mary for this informative piece!
